Overview

Build hands-on quality control expertise across the full construction lifecycle — from site preparation to final handover. A practical, project-based program built around ISO 9001, the Saudi Building Code, and international ASTM, ACI, and BS standards. This course prepares civil engineers, site supervisors, and construction professionals to implement, manage, and monitor quality control systems across every stage of a construction project. Through real project scenarios you will master the core QA/QC documentation set — Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, Checklists, Work Inspection Requests (WIR/RFI), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) — alongside material testing, site inspection, and audit preparation, building the practical competence employers across the GCC construction market expect.

Description

Module Breakdown

01

QA/QC Fundamentals & Quality Management Systems

Build the professional baseline

Distinguish Quality Assurance from Quality Control and understand how both fit within a project Quality Management System aligned to ISO 9001:2015. Cover quality policy and objectives, the project quality plan, organisational roles and responsibilities (QA/QC engineer, inspector, consultant, contractor, client), and how specifications and codes drive every quality decision on site.

02

Quality Documentation & Control Tools

The QA/QC toolkit used on every site

Develop and apply the core documentation set: Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) with hold and witness points, Method Statements, quality Checklists, Work Inspection Requests (WIR/RFI), Material Inspection Requests (MIR), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR). Learn document control, numbering, transmittals, and traceability so every record stands up to review.

03

Construction Materials Testing & Compliance

Lab and field testing against acceptance criteria

Supervise standard testing procedures for concrete (slump, cube/cylinder compressive strength, rebound hammer), reinforcement steel, soil and aggregates (sieve analysis, compaction and field density), and asphalt where relevant. Interpret results against ASTM, ACI, BS, and SBC acceptance criteria, and manage sampling, frequency, and laboratory coordination.

04

Site Inspection Across Project Stages

From earthworks to finishing — stage by stage

Apply structured inspection techniques across the full lifecycle: site preparation and earthworks, foundations, formwork and reinforcement, concrete pouring and curing, blockwork and structural works, and finishing trades. Master pre-pour and pre-cover checks, hold points, snag/punch lists, and how to document each inspection so non-conformities are caught before they become rework.

05

Non-Conformance, Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement

Turn defects into controlled, closed-out actions

Manage the full Non-Conformance Report lifecycle — identification, classification, disposition (use-as-is, rework, repair, reject), and close-out. Apply root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) so the same defect does not recur, and use quality metrics and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across the project.

06

Quality Records, Audits & Project Handover

Audit-ready records and a clean handover

Build and maintain a complete, traceable quality record set, and prepare for internal and external (third-party) audits with confidence. Cover audit planning, evidence, findings, and follow-up, then assemble the project quality dossier — test certificates, inspection records, NCR logs, and as-built documentation — for a compliant final handover.
