Overview

Build the essential health and safety awareness every employee needs to recognise workplace hazards, work safely, respond correctly to incidents, and contribute to a strong safety culture. A practical foundation course aligned with OSHA and ISO 45001 principles for workplaces across the GCC. Workplace health and safety is a shared responsibility between employers and employees, and it begins with awareness. This course gives every employee a clear, practical understanding of how to identify hazards, follow safe work practices, use personal protective equipment correctly, and respond responsibly when incidents occur. Through real workplace scenarios you will learn to reduce risk, report unsafe conditions and incidents accurately, and play an active part in building a safer, healthier, and more productive working environment.

Description

Module Breakdown

01

Introduction to Workplace Health & Safety

The foundation of a safe workplace

Understand what workplace health and safety means and why it is a shared responsibility between employer and employee. Learn to recognise the main categories of workplace hazards — physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial — and the basic principles that reduce risk, prevent injuries, and guide the right response when incidents occur.

02

Accident & Injury Prevention

Stop incidents before they happen

Adopt proactive safety measures that prevent accidents and injuries. Cover systematic hazard identification and risk assessment, the hierarchy of controls, safe work practices, good housekeeping, and the correct selection, use, and care of personal protective equipment (PPE) for different tasks and environments.

03

Emergency Response & Incident Reporting

Act fast, report right

Develop the skills to respond effectively to workplace accidents and emergencies. Learn immediate response steps, basic first-aid principles, and how to report incidents and near misses promptly to supervisors and safety personnel. Understand accurate incident documentation and why it is essential for medical care, root-cause analysis, and preventing recurrence.

04

Hazardous Materials Handling

Safe handling, storage, and disposal

Gain the knowledge to handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials safely. Learn to read labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), understand chemical and material hazards, minimise exposure, and follow workplace and environmental compliance requirements for spills, containment, and waste.

05

Safe Machinery Operations

Protect workers and equipment

Learn safe operating procedures for workplace machinery and equipment. Cover machine-related hazards, machine guarding, lockout/tagout principles, safe start-up and shutdown, and preventive maintenance practices that keep both workers and equipment protected.

06

Workplace Ergonomics

Comfort that prevents injury

Understand ergonomic principles for a safer, more comfortable work environment. Learn proper workstation setup, safe manual handling and lifting techniques, and practical methods to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and the strain that builds up over repetitive daily tasks.

07

Slip, Trip & Fall Prevention

Eliminate the most common hazards

Identify the common causes of slips, trips, and falls — wet floors, clutter, poor lighting, trailing cables, and uneven surfaces — and apply practical strategies to eliminate them. Learn housekeeping, signage, and walkway management that keep movement around the workplace safe.

08

Fire Safety & Prevention

Prevent, detect, evacuate

Learn fire prevention fundamentals, the fire triangle, common ignition sources, and how to reduce fire risk. Understand detection and alarm systems, safe evacuation procedures and assembly points, and the correct selection and use of fire extinguishers for different classes of fire.

09

Stress Management in the Workplace

Wellbeing is part of safety

Explore workplace stress factors and their impact on health, focus, and safety performance. Learn to recognise the signs of stress and fatigue and apply practical techniques to manage workload, maintain mental wellbeing, and sustain safe, attentive performance on the job.

10

Creating a Safe Workplace Culture

Safety as a shared mindset

Understand what a positive safety culture looks like and how it is built. Cover hazard control measures, safety communication and reporting, leadership and personal accountability, and the everyday behaviours that turn safety procedures into a secure, compliant, and trusted working environment.

11

Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems

From behaviour to system

Learn the principles and implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) aligned with ISO 45001. Cover policy and planning, roles and responsibilities, compliance monitoring, internal audits, performance measurement, and the continuous improvement that sustains safety across the whole organisation.
