- To be eligible for the PMP exam, candidates must meet the requirements of one of the two following educational and experience tracks, as mandated by the Project Management Institute (PMI): Track 1: For Bachelor's Degree Holders Education: A four-year degree (Bachelor's or global equivalent). Project Experience: A minimum of 36 months (3 years) of non-overlapping professional project management experience. Project Leading Hours: 4,500 hours leading and directing projects. Project Management Education: 35 contact hours of formal project management training (e.g., a PMP exam prep course). Track 2: For Secondary Degree Holders Education: A Secondary Degree (High school diploma, associate's degree, or global equivalent).
